Toastmaster Bagel Automatic Bagel Slicer

Not as good as I expected
This is not for people with limited counter space in their kitchens. It is fairly large and takes up a lot of space. I have sliced bagels with it several times, and although it is safe to use, it is not safe to clean. When you take it apart to clean it, which you are supposed to do after each use, you have to handle two extremely sharp cutting blades. First you must handle them to disassemble the unit, then you must separate the blades, then wash and dry them, then clamp them back together, then insert them back in the unit. I feel that there is less chance of getting cut with a knife that with this. I also have yet to get an even result. One half of the bagel is always skinny, and the other half is always fat. This may be that I am doing something wrong, I am still experimenting. It does zip right through the bagel in just seconds, and it is just about
impossible to cut yourself when you are using it to slice a bagel. I know one thing---I am not going to clean it after every...

Worthless product
The electric bagel slicer did not work as advertised, and I gave it away. I thought it was going to be a great product because my teenage son and his friends love bagels from Panera Bread. Once I gave the electric bagel slicer away, I discovered that Panera Bread will pre-slice bagels for home purchase. Yea!

Miele : CVA2662SS 24 Built-In Nespresso Capsule Coffee System - Stainless Steel

Cost of ownership extremely high
This review covers the CVA 2660 (the predecessor of the CVA 2662) because the inner workings of the machine are basically the same. The major difference between these two models is that Miele added touch controls to the CVA 2662. Other than that, they are virtually identical models.

We bought the CVA 2660 in 2005 and had it replaced under warranty due to constant error messages that the technicians could not fix. The second unit performed better initially but after around 2,000 coffees the error messages appeared again. The two main issues were the feeding and ejection mechanism of the capsules. For existing owners of the CVA 2660 or CVA 2662, the error codes were F72 and F75. We could fix the problem by removing the stuck capsules and completely restarting the machine. Needless to say that every time a capsule got stuck, it was unusable. With multiple error messages per week (sometimes several per day), the cost of lost Nespresso capsules was not insignificant ($0.65 per...

Saeco S-TG-ST Talea Giro Super Automatic Espresso Machine

Seductive, but disappointing, very disappointing
I have purchased this coffee maker because I tasted the coffee it makes at a friends party. It was awesome. My friend had his machine for a few weeks and was very excited about it. This is a good looking machine, easy to fall in love with. I immediately went to purchase one. That's when my problems started. and by the way, so did my friend's. If you don't want to read any further, the summary is - DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS MACHINE!!!

Pros: When it works, it makes wonderful coffee

Cons: you need about 10 minutes to read this and let it sink
1. Usability - after a few weeks of use it stopped working. The first problem with this machine is its usability - specifically, feedback to problems. It has a very capricious operation and the feedback it provides whenever a problem occurs is illegible. It is capricious because, it complains when (a) the water tank is half empty. When it complains you cannot make a decision to override it - in other words, when the...

Thought you couldn't have a delicious cup of coffee with no effort? Think again!
We got this coffee maker for my husband, who likes to drink a lot of coffee and expend practically no effort to prepare it / clean up afterwards. He already knew drip machines were not for him - clean up after every use... So he had switched to a French press and got to like the bold flavor but that ended up being too much work still. After that he was only drinking "Turkish coffee" (i.e. dump the grounds in a cup and pour water over them) - that was about the right amount of effort but just didn't taste that great. Especially compared to his favorite "Americanos" at the neighborhood coffee shop.

SOO, when I saw this machine I knew we had to get it. We found it almost 50% off at an unnamed dept. store - so I have absolutely no reason to justify an expensive purchase by writing a positive review :).

I would not say it's cheaply made at all. The parts where it matters most use high-quality materials. I don't care if my water tank is plastic - it seems to be crack...

Great coffee, ok quality
Have been using this machine for a week now, and, most importantly, it makes outstanding coffee. I am not a coffee expert, but as a (now former) Starbucks regular, I can testify that I'd prefer coffee from this machine over Starbucks brew any day.

Other things on the good side:
- easy to install and simple to operate
- very fast, a great cup of coffee is always just a minute away

On the downside:
- Although the design is ok, the execution is a bit on the cheap side (for what I'd expect at this price tag) with plastic body and controls not having a feel of precision mechanism
- alarm indicators (too add water, add coffee, empty waste tank) are a bit cryptic and it takes an effort to figure out what this machine wants from you, maybe I'll get better at it with time.

NEW Samson Single Auger Juicer - GB-9006

Everything I expected, hoped for
Betty, you should of kept it, just a thought. I love it. Juices everything, finally have natural peanut butter, as I live in Thailand, they have smucker's products, but not peanut butter, and expensive here. Made paste, ground beef for chili with it, eye steak, no fat.

does all it says, and extremely fast and easy clean up. no problem with plastic, especially the GE-U, and long warranty.

highly recommend to anyone, as it makes juicing and clean up very easy, which means you will actually use it, instead of the novelty wearing off. the wife is into it more than myself, quite surprising, as totally ignorant about juicing before. even the little one, now 14 years old won't buy OJ anymore, juices her own. the family is eating much healthier, instead of the processed crap with no nutrition.

2Much Plastic for me
For the price, it should have been metal, looks cheap and feels cheap. I know it is suppose to have a long life span but all that plastic looks cheap. I returned mine.

Sunbeam FPSBHM1502 240 Watt 6 Speed Hand Mixer w/ Dough Hooks

Too fast for its' own good
Problem with this mixer is the speed. It's way too fast on lowest setting.
Unless you have a bowl the size of car tire, whatever you mix is going to fly all over the place.
I've never used it past first setting.

Typically when I make something with butter and sugar, I have to mix that by hand first.
Then when adding wet ingredients, I can start using the mixer.

:/

No speed control
This mixer was violently fast at the lowest setting, and it has five more speeds that are even faster. It is going back.

Kills my hands and wrist
I, Sarah bought this item strictly for making dough for homemade pita bread and boy does it hurt my hands. It's too powerful for it's own good. Every time after using, my hand is all red and sore, ouch! I don't recommend this item, unless you have some BEEFY MAN HANDS. I only used it twice and I don't plan on using it again. Now, I have my husband Jon use the mixer with the dough hooks. He told me that it doesn't hurt his hands but is very powerful. Buy if you're a man, I guess. It's really up to you. Hope you find what you're looking for. I know I didn't.

Just Pop It Hot Air Popcorn Popper-Basketball

It's great
I was looking for a present for my wife and this one is perfect she has always wanted this one.

Good as a Sports Room Trophy, Little More
It's cute but it won't pop. I used homegrown popcorn (which might have a tougher hull than commercial grade popcorn, I'm not sure). Anyway, it burned the kernels rather than popping them. The resulting popped corn That DIDN'T burn tasted burned. Stick to regular air-poppers.

bounce this item
Was given this as a gift and unfortunately cannot return it. I have tried several kinds of popcorn, even the delicate ladyfinger type and it won't pop anything!!! Bounce this popper out of the court. I had no option to give it no stars or I would have.

Blendtec Designer Series Blender - Wildside Four Side Jars Package - CREAM

Blendtec rocks
The new Designer Series Blendtec is one fine blender. It is powerful, fast, and a breeze to keep clean. Love the fact that it fits under the counter, looks great, and works super. This machine was a replacement for a Vita Mix and while that was a good machine it does not perform like the new Blendtec. Love the jar design, the more robust cutter, and the ease of clean up. I am eating a more healthy diet and have noticed the increased energy because of it. Thank you Blendtec, I have given your new design five stars.

Powerful!
Love my Blendtec Blender! I use it almost daily to make healthy smoothies. It can chop and blend anything! The noise is a bit annoying, but the results are well worth that little problem.

Oster 6832 10-Speed Blender, Black

Not Great for Smoothie Making
I'm in the market for a new blender. I wanted something powerful enough to pulverize ice. Also, I wanted something I wouldn't have to turn off, stir, then turn back on to get the ice crushed and the smoothie, well, smooth.

This blender did not pulverize the ice, and after some constant on/off stirring, the smoothie finally got liquidized. However, the top remains did not get sucked to the bottom of the blender.

Honestly, I only used it for the one smoothie and I plan on returning it today. It may be great for other things, but for smoothies it is not.

2 Stars for this product...5 Stars for Gorilla Glue!
Oster 6431 is good for SMALL amounts of frozen foodstuff...better for non-frozen.
I purchased this product from Walmart but loss the receipt so cannot bring it back. It does OK for the frozen foodstuff but you have to put it in in SMALL amounts at a time AND with liquids. Putting in too much frozen foodstuff at a time broke the drive. I used this product exclusively for frozen foodstuff and broke the "all-metal drive" tip three times. I use Gorilla Glue to put it back on. Boy that Gorilla Glue works! I am still able to use the Oster 6431, not because its a fine product but because Gorilla Glue is a fine product. Don't be fooled by the "all-metal drive" advertisement. Metal can mean just about anything...as in something soft like Aluminum. In this case the metal is thin and soft. Now if the advertisement says something like..."carbon steel" or "reinforced" then you may have something special there. I'll keep Gorilla gluing the Oster 6431 until it breaks beyond repair then I will...

Disappointment
I purchased this blender at a Kroger subsidiary two years ago to make eggnog smoothies for my brother who had colon cancer. It was barely adequate for the job, even though all I used was yogurt, eggs and frozen fruit. The blender doesn't move the mix enough to blend thoroughly and bogs down if mix is too thick. (How can a smoothie be too thick?)

My brother died last summer, so I didn't use it until my doctor told me a few months ago I had to eat a banana and/or an orange every day. I don't care for the texture of bananas, so I started making smoothies for myself. Same issues.

Another thing I don't like about this unit is the lid and access cap. The lid is soft plastic; the access cap is hard plastic. You have to squeeze the lid to get it secured to the blender, and the access cap can easily be pushed through the lid.

One day I was making a banana smoothie and -- being a senior citizen with a faulty memory and having a lot on my mind -- I forgot to put...

Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RKG25H0XMC Professional 5 Plus Bowl Lift Mixer, Metallic Chrome

Great way to get a KA, but with a couple caveats!
I ordered a reconditioned KA Professional 500 Plus mixer in metallic chrome. What I received was instead a KA Professional Heavy Duty mixer in metallic chrome. Both the 500 Plus and the HD have 5 quart bowls, all-metal gears, etc. Both are high-quality mixers and, either way, are a great deal at the Amazon price. That said, there are some small differences between the models and I was disappointed not to receive the Professional 500 Plus I'd been expecting. I am writing this review because after I received my mixer, found cases of people receiving the wrong thing from Amazon even as far back as 2005/6. I guess they aren't going to fix the discrepancy between the SKU number and product name.

The Pro 500 Plus has a wide bowl, while the Pro HD has a narrow bowl. The wider bowl makes it easier to add ingredients without spilling them all over the place or needing a pouring shield. However, some people find that the narrower bowl of the HD works better for mixing very...

Excellent Mixer
This is, indeed, a heavy-duty mixer. I received it quickly and it works great. However, it is VERY heavy and tall. You need a counter top that will accommodate the heighth so you do not have to move it to use it. Also, for anyone with an older home it requires a three-pronged outlet. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with this mixer.

SUPER Deal!!
I read everyones review on this refurbished mixer and some in other colors before deciding to buy. After reading them all I decided to take the plunge. I got it pretty quick and it is immaculate. Not a scratch on it. Came with all three beater attachments. I have the smaller mixer and wanted to upgrade for the power and larger bowl capacity. This one sure has it. I am glad I stumbled on this refurbished deal. Someone wrote in their review that returned items are put through a pretty thorough process before they can resell them as refurbished. I think that is a super point!!

Sunkist SK860 Masticating Juicer, Chrome

Great Buy!
Well let me first start by saying I do not normally write reviews, in fact this is my first time, but in this case I felt compelled. I reviewed many juicers, slugging through hours of reviews before I determined which juicer to buy. I am new to juicing but I had researched and knew that 1. I wanted a masticating juicer 2. had to be able juice wheatgrass. After researching them all I kept coming back to the Sunkist. I had read other reviews about masticating juicers and many people complained of the noise, let me say this machine is very quiet, other reviews also complained that masticating juicers were painfully slow, this one is very speedy. Also this bad boy really juices, the pulp is very dry so I know it is extracting all of the liquid. And perhaps most important, at least in my buying decision, is that the cleaning is a breeze, literally in 5 minutes I have it taken apart and washed and put away.

Smooth and quiet machine
I did a lot of research and finally decided to order this Sunkist juicer, and I am very happy with it. It does it's job very smoothly and quietly. Love it!

Needs a detailed User's Guide
I wish there was a detailed User's Guide for this juicer. I'm new to using a masticating juicer, and find the little information provided in the box to be difficult to navigate. If only I could find a "Juicing for Dummies using a Masticating Juicer" book.

Total Chef Z100B Oven, White

Great oven, but the grill sucks
This oven is great for what you pay for it. Chicken comes out great, almost like it's been fried. Love this thing, except for the grill.

After a few months, we began having to pick little pieces of teflon off our food, as it was peeling off the grill. Looked online for replacement parts, but could not find any. If the oven comes with a stainless, or nickel grill (like the picture), then it's totally worth it. If not, be prepared to have to hunt for a replacement grill.

Total Chef Oven
Bad Product. Did not cook meat evenly. I tried cooking different meats, and different weights of meats. Eventually threw it away, and ask for a refund.

The little oven that COULD.
Thanks for the new cooking toy. It is the best thing "since sliced bread".
It will do oven duties easily and clean up is so easy

Expobar Lever Semi-Auto Espresso Machine

Nice for the price
This is a really nice machine for the price point. I've been using mine for about a month and I'm just starting to dail it in. The case comes off pretty easily (5 screws) so you can access to OPV for group pressure adjustment and boiler pressure. Mine came with the boiler set at .8 bar, I upped it to the green zone of the gauge about .9 bar. I also turned down the group pressure to 9 bar (it came set a 10). I have about a 2 minute recovery time and consistent shots. The biggest downside is the heat exchanger and group need pretty large flushes +-8 oz before pulling a shot. Get Eric's thermometer ($100) plugged into the group and flush to about 207 degrees. After 10 seconds, you can pull a shot at 200 degrees at the puck.

The machine is pretty big - it looks large on my counter and I have a very big, modern kitchen. My wife made me move it to a less obvious location because it seemed a little oversized for the spot my Gaggia Classic used to reside. The design is...

Nothing disappointing about this workhorse!
I absolutely love this unit! I've had it for over a year, now, with no issues, and I use it multiple times, daily, to not only brew espresso, but to steam my chai, froth my milk, and dispense hot water for tea. I was only looking to replace my simple Krups when it "krapped" out - I got a little carried away buying this unit, but, oh my! I have no regrets, whatsoever, for this "espresso factory" is truly a workhorse. It is a substantial piece of equipment that does take up some real estate on my counter, but it also deserves it! I keep it just off to the right of my sink where the sink "rinse" hose reaches it for (very) easy filling. I could have spent a whole lot more money getting it hooked directly into the waterline, but this way, I have the flexibility of moving it.

13007 BEC 4 Qt. Cooker

This has two settings: high and higher
I'm disappointed with this slow cooker. The low setting rapidly boils everything, even when the slow cooker is full of food. The high setting is even higher. Recipes that call for eight hours of cooking time on low settings actually cook in 4-5 hours on low setting in this slow cooker. I'm not sure if I got a defective item, or if all are set to cook at high temperatures. I would not buy this product again.

Does the job, despite handle breaking off
I would recommend this product. My only complaint is that the handle broke off. However, I can still USE the thing so that's what counts.

Cooks way too hot
I agree completely with the other 1-star reviewer! "This has two settings: high and higher." I bought this slow cooker about two years ago, and it was one of the biggest kitchen equipment disappointments of my life. It overcooked *everything*, despite following directions to a tee and filling it at least 2/3 full.

Thus began my two-year process of researching these things, only to learn that the newer machines have been re-calibrated to cook much hotter than, say, the ones in the '70s. I'm new to slow cooking and never used those machines. But I've been through 3 awful machines at this point, and it's been maddening having to read reviews of "fantastic!" recipes that "turned out perfectly!" when I was ruining these same recipes in faulty machines that were calibrated entirely differently than other people's.

In short, this is definitely one that cooks too hot. The low setting will boil soon and rapidly, and you will most likely ruin meals. I've now been through...

Breville Refurbished Dual Disc Juice Processor

Great product!
This machine works very quickly turning a huge pile of kale, spinache, green apples, carrots, and orange into juice in minutes. The energy rush is unbelievable when you first try it. At first the taste and smell is hard to take but then you start to crave it aftrer awhile. Adding an orange seems to be the trick and really makes it palletable.
This is one of my favorite purchases this year.

The best purchase we ever made
Since we have this Juicer my wife can't stop using it. We haven't drink or eat so much fruit and vegetable we were born.

No point to buy the dual disc if puree disc doesn't work
I bought a "reconditioned" machine. Now one has to wonder where do reconditioned machines come from? Probably returns that were tested and resold. Why are so many being returned? (probably because this juicer doesn't work very well) In any case, the juicer I received did juice hard fruits and vegetables fine but the puree disc didn't work at all. What I mean is, it rotated and the juicer appeared to function as it should, except what came out was lumpy, wasn't blended and had seeds in it. Ok I guess when you use the puree disc you should only feed material into the juicer that you want in your drink, so, no seeds or pith. Still, it should at least be smooth and blended, right? I mean, that's not too much to expect is it? Yeah, so I returned it. It juices hard fruit and veg fine, but why spend $200 for that? Just buy the $100 compact version that probably does the exact same thing.

Kalorik CMM-18262 200-Watt 4-in-1 Combination Stick Mixer, Black and Silver

love this item
This little machine is the best thing I've had on my kitchen counter in years. It's great for meal prep, whipping up eggs for breakfast or topping for deserts or frothing hot chocolate. When we received it the attachment for the frother was broken, I called the company and I received a new attachment within 5 days and this was during the holidays.

Looks like the picture, but feels a little cheap
I got this as a gold box deal so I don't feel too cheated on the price. The box arrived damaged and looked like it had been used as a football. The product itself overall is just a little cheaper than i thought it should be for the retail price. When you use the mixer wand, it smells like an electrical fire is about to take place. The way things are supposed to snap and click together just isn't as firm as I would like it or expect it to be.

extremely dissapointed
at first I was happy but I felt it was made flimsy, the two pieces kept coming apart during use, now the inner workings broke and it doesn't work, it doesn't turn the shaft. I probably didn't use it over 10 times. A lot of money for nothing. I don't recommend it to anyone. Another thing, it only has (had) one speed.

Hamilton Beach Toastation Red

Hamilton Beach toaster/toaster oven
Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. I wanted a toaster/toaster oven combination with a small footprint for my kitchen. In that regard the appliance would rate a 5 star. Cleaning is relatively easy except getting to the back wall and lower back area.
There are areas that seem to cook (burn) faster than others, but I am trying to adapt to that issue.
Lastly, I will reiterate, that I am happy with the product and would , and have, reccommend it to others.

Not as good as the first one I had
Style and quality of materials is excellent but it does not toast the bread without often having to do it twice.

Trying to give it away
I used this item one time and put it in the basement hoping to give it away or sell it at a yard sale. It is so tiny that a dinner roll will sit about 1/2 inch from the heating element. It burns before it heats.

Kalorik BL-24242 500-Watt Electronic-Speed Blender with 50-Ounce Glass Jar, Aztec Copper

Worst Blender Ever
I purchased a Kalorik Blender Model BL 24242, 6 weeks ago, used it daily to make breakfast smoothies, and thought the blender was very sturdy and did a good job of smoothies. I was very happy with it until the glass jar broke. This particular day, within 15 seconds into the smoothie function, the glass jar broke into two pieces between the base of the glass jar and the top edge of the glass base housing. I called Kalorik Customer Service, asked for a return authorization to send back the blender. I wanted a completely new blender. I was told the glass container was not covered under the warranty and was not given a return authorization by the Kalorik Customer Service Rep. All she would continue to say was that the glass container was not covered by the warranty but she cheerfully offered to sell me another glass jar at $19.95. Overall, if I could I would give the blender a zero (0) rating, as I believe it doesn't rate even a 1 in my humble opinion and I'm sorry I bought this...

Good blender if it keeps working...
I received this blender for Christmas from my son, who bought it because he'd seen lots of good reviews on it. It worked really well for the most part for the first few months. We also smelled something hot/burning when it was running. Then it would occasionally not run the blades, even though it sounded like it was working. My husband finally looked into it because we kept seeing metal type debris under the jug and what looked like a wire inside the jug. It turned out to be some metal that appears to have been sheared from the blade assembly. We called Kalorik customer support who, after an hour on the phone, said they would mail us a new blade assembly even though it wasn't under warranty. Why it wouldn't be under warranty since it's a moving part is beyond us. We never got it (it's been 2 weeks). We called again today, and low and behold, there's no mention in our record of us calling or of anyone sending us a new blade assembly. The folks today didn't really offer to...

Really Cheaply Made
Not at all worth the 79 dollars spent. Really nice idea, I mean it has variable speed and that is what I wanted, but the container lid is really cheap and doesn't fit tightly and the center part of the lid fits even worse. Then every tim eI have used it so far it smells very bad of burning motor windings. It has not quit or anything but it seems like it is struggling. I almost sent it back but the next blender that I know of that has variable speed starts at about 400 dollars so I will keep it and see how long it lasts.

Vinotemp VT-36 Butler Series Dual Zone Wine and Beverage Cooler

Not worth the money
The Vinotemp VT-36 that I ordered directly from the manufacturer looks nice, keeps the wine at the right temperatures, and has all the features you would expect from a $900 wine fridge. However, it is extremely loud -- it apparently has a fan that cycles about every 20 seconds, and then the standard compressor that actually does the cooling comes on every 10 to 15 minutes. I expected the compressor noise, but the extra fan noise is ridiculously annoying. It is louder than my kitchen refrigerator, and I can hear the wine fridge a room away and with the TV on. This was not what I expected from a $[...] wine refrigerator. It is much louder than the $[...] one that I bought from Home Depot 6 years ago that this one was meant to replace.
Worst of all, the "customer service" at VinoTemp is pretty much non-existent. I expected that there was some problem that occurred in shipping that was causing the noise, and that they would either get someone out to repair it, explain how to...

Broke at the 1 year mark
The cooling stopped at 1 day over the 1 year mark, and Vinotemp refused to cover any labor to repair the issue. They did offer to send me a part, free of charge, when a qualified mechanic determined the problem. The problem, however, would cost 380 dollars in labor to fix. The Mechanic actually told me this brand doesn't last long, and the best I could do is purchase a low-cost option and simply replace it in a year or two when it wears out. I am attempting a 300 dollar GE (with 4-year warranty) from Lowe's, and I will not purchase a Vinotemp again.

unreliable
I bought two of the wine/beverage fridges. They look great but do not work for long. Both fridges broke (stopped cooling) in less than two years. Fixing a small fridge like this is not cost effective and the company was not helpful in determining the failure mode. I will not buy this brand again.

World Pride Silicone Ice Mold Ice Pop Maker Set, Set of 4pcs

Perfect For Smoothie or Juice Pops!
We have been using these for months now and I am pretty satisfied with them. They really do not hold very much at all, maybe 2-4 ounces. They seal up fine. I was worried at first about the fact that the tops just push on. I thought the tops would just pop right off, but they are pretty tight fitting. When you fill them up you need to stop filling about 1/2"-1" from the top. You then push the top on, turn the pop molds upside down, and place them in the freezer. We juiced some oranges and made orange juice pops. Those were really good. Recently we put left over smoothie in a few. We have not tried the smoothie pops yet, but am sure they will be just as good.

As far as smell goes, I did not notice a rubber, plastic, or chemical smell at all on these. Not when we first opened the package nor after having used them. My child however, thinks they smell, but cannot describe what the smell is. The only thing I can smell on them is cold freezer smell, which doesn't...

Omega B2300 2-Horsepower 2-Speed Blender with 64-Ounce Polycarbonate Jar

You will LOVE this blender, until it Breaks, and you can't get it fixed under the warranty!
I would definitely agree with all the other reviews of this product. I absolutely LOVED this blender when I got it, and used it almost daily for the past year. I did all my research and comparisons to Vitamix and Blendtec, and ultimately decided on the Omega because of the price, the power, and the 2 year warranty that came with it. It held up to all my expectations for a good solid year, until one day the bolt that holds the blade on actually snapped in half and the blade broke off, which also took a chunk of plastic out of the side of the jar. Let me be clear in saying, I was not trying to blend anything hard. No ice or anything, just juice, veggies, and some frozen banana. I have contacted the Omega warranty department, not once, but twice, by email, with no response. I have also tried to call, but they are only open Monday through Friday, 9-5 eastern time. I am on the West Coast, and my job doesn't allow for any time to call, unless I want to call on my 30 minute lunch break. That...

Good powerful blender
This blender works basically as well as the VitaMix. I'd say the only negative in comparison is that this blender doesn't have the "tamper" that allows you to push food down into the blades while it's running. This only matters if you are making a really thick smoothie though.
Also, if you worry about unproven science, this product is not BPA free.

great blender!
Where can I start on this blender... I have come to notice that finding a good blender based on reviews it pretty tough. Well that being said, if you are reading this you are have found it... first! This thing bleeds quality. From the secure top down to the aluminum coupling that secures the heavy duty bearing assembly. The Vitamix uses plastic in this area by the way. The switches flip easily and with the right amount of force to let you know this blender was built to last. The large rubber feet keep it from walking, which is common among high powered blenders. This is not the variable speed version. Some of the other reviews I have read are comparing the Vitamix Turboblend VS to this model and that is not a fair comparison. The regular Turboblend competes with this model. Omega has been making commercial blenders for a subsidiary company for years, but they are just now getting into this market here in the US. Another thing I want to note is why there are other choices out there...

Velox Food Press - Pasta Maker and Meat Grinder

You get what you pay for
I bought this because I wanted an extruder for pasta since I make my own by hand and have a manual roller as well. I was worried by the reviews of other similiar products based on what they said about the suction usually used for these devices. Here are my pros and cons.

Pros
* inexpensive
* easy to use and assemble (the blade inside is extremely sharp)
* the suction base is EXTREMELY strong, I was able to lift my dining room table with it and it's a heavy wood one
* meant to be used for either handmade sausages or extruding pasta dough

Cons
* it looks like a child's toy made for playdough
* it doesn't handle pasta dough very well. After attempting to make spaghetti and working the crank for 15 min, I had about an inch of spaghetti coming out. I didn't continue after that.
* the other extruder plates are just as slow, it seems to be made for a dough that is not kneaded as much as pasta dough should be.
* most of it is...

Bodum 10709 Bistro 2-Slice Toaster w/ Bagel & Bun Warmer

Not happy with this product.
I received this toaster for Christmas 2012, it worked OK for about 5 months then became more difficult to adjust the level of toast color. Now the lever that you push down to lower the bread has to be held manually to operate. Just checked the return or repair options at Bodum and am unable to reach them because of Columbus day holiday. Reading the return/repair options looks like I will be out of luck since it was a gift and I dont have the receipt. Will post again as to the outcome. 10/23/2013, Just after my original post, I was able to contact Bodum. They sent me a new Toaster very promptly and explained that since my toaster was a gift and I did not have a receipt, that the replacement toaster would not be covered by warranty. I mentioned to the customer service rep (very nice and helpful I might add) that I had read several reviews that had toasters with the same problem as mine. They said that they have corrected this and that the one that I would be receiving was of the...

Better Chef IM-266B Toaster Oven, Black

A-OK
I just got this toaster, and it's okay. I'd recommend it for a toaster on a budget.

I REALLY like the way the dials are set up. The top dial, you choose whether you want ONLY the top burner on (broil), ONLY the bottom burner on (roast), or BOTH (toast/bake). And then the bottom dial you simply pick how long you want it to run for.

Downside is, obviously there's no temperature control which makes it hard to know how long to cook anything. So it'll take experimenting to figure out how long to cook certain things. Also, even with The rack on the lowest rung, sometimes if you put something tall inside, the top burns first. But for regular toast it works really evenly.

Also, it is really fast, especially if you pre heat it. For example I pre heated it for like 5 minutes, and then I baked cookies in it and I swear they cooked in 5 minutes.

Usually I just use it for toast, at least so far.

And it looks pretty nice, at least the black...

Coffee Maker Travel Café Style

Compact, quiet, makes hot coffee
Does what it's supposed to do. I experimented while still at home with how much coffee to use to obtain the taste I expected. Now I always have "my" coffee, brewed just the way I like it, on the road. Skip the basket of coffee grounds and it'll make a cup of hot water for tea, cocoa or whatever. Handy.

A great, compact coffee machine
I was delighted with the trial run with this gadget. The water is really really hot which is what I wanted. Primarily it is for hot water for instant oatmeal cereal. Ok, laugh if you will but I love the maple or peach oatmeal as a snack instead of candy or empty calorie food. I will use this for Instant coffee. I'm sure it would make good coffee using grounds but I don't travel with that kind of item. It would be possible to cut a paper coffee filter to fit the small container for easier cleanup tho.

The whole unit is compact and light weight. 15.75 oz(including the cord) and 4x7 for the unit. The cup is large so if you enjoy your morning coffee you will not have to go back for seconds.

Horrible
Used twice. The first time it leaked a little. The second time 1/4 of the coffee went into the cup, the rest went everywhere. Did not work the third time, threw it away.

Euro-Pro EP585R 10-Speed Pro Stand Mixer with Rotating Bowl, Red

Sweet!
I was't sure whether I wanted a hand mixer or a stand mixer, so I decided to try this one. I love it!

The bowl and the beaters both move and can both be set to different speeds. It comes with beaters, dough hooks, a stainless steel bowl with lid, a plastic bowl (without lid) and a spatula (more than I thought I was getting). The beaters are off to the side of the bowl, which makes adding ingredients really easy. It is strong enough to handle the very stiff cookie dough I made in stand mode. It fits very comfortably in my hand when I use it manually.

It converts from stand to hand in about 10 seconds, which is great when you decide you need to keep a closer eye on the whipped cream to get it just right. Talking about whipped cream, I loved being able to chill the steel bowl, whip the cream in the cold bowl and put the bowl back in the fridge after putting the lid on it.

This thing was a joy to work with during the Holiday baking season!

Two...

Powerful but doesn't mix small quantities well.
I was looking to substitute a heavy stand mixer by something lighter which I can easily remove from the counter after finishing with it.
It is sturdily built, insert and removal of beaters, changing from stand to hand mode are all very easy.
However, it doesn't mix well in the stand mode. The beaters are small and don't reach the bottom of the bowl.
Mixing is not even and batter is separated into the side of the bowl, while the center is left untouched. To achieve a thorough mixing I have to continuously help it a long with a spatula, or change to the hand held mode.

Loved it now very disapointed
Very good looking. LOVED it at first, but am now on my 4th set of beaters. Either they bent or just busted while mixing stiff dough. No its not me, I had a hand mixer for 25 years and NEVER had one problem!!! I hate to get a different one because I LOVE the looks of this one. But it is time to give up, so sad in Oregon.

Food Network 16" Electric Skillet

Excellent Quality and extremely sturdy skillet
Well I will say I originally wanted a skillet of this size, which aren't made in too many brands. My first venture was with the one of this size with glass lid made by presto, I quickly returned it due to the non stick coating coming off after only a few uses. This one made by Food Network is the one I turned to to replace it. So far I have had it for 3-4 months and use it frequently, and have had no problems at all with it. The non stick coating is nothing like the presto brand, it is of a much higher quality and has someone of a micro waffle texture. It seems because of that, the coating is smooth and consistent across the whole thing making it stand up to spatulas and cleaning without any coating flaking off what so ever! This is what I especially love, because that was my main problem with the presto one. The design is nice and feels extremely sturdy. The legs have a rubber bottoms on the feet so it will not scoot around on the counter while cooking either unlike the presto. If...

Serious design flaw
I just bought this skillet at Kohl's and will be returning it tomorrow. While generous in size, it is impossible to read the temperature control once it's plugged in -- it is totally hidden by the skillet handle. Pictures accompanying the skillet (on the box and recipe book included) show a different view from what you get. Seems the handles have moved away from the skillet and now cover the control. Very disappointed.

Orien Outdoor 2-Door Stainless Steel Beverage Center

Great Beverage Center
My husband and I bought this unit and have not had one problem with it. This is made by Orien not Franklin Chef, that company went out of business due to lack of inspections and care of the product. This is a beautiful beverage center all our friends and family members love the Stainless Steel look and like I mentioned we have not had any problems. There are alot of companies that have identical products, they buy them and put their own label on them that's how the market works.

Poor customer service!
I have an FSW-36, and need some trim pieces that are broken. I contacted Orien by e-mail and requested parts, or anyone that could get me parts and/or service. They replied right away with the following: We do not have parts for that unit - sorry. My reply to that e-mail with further questions went unanswered. In my normal dealings with a manufacturer, they would say I'm sorry, (ok, they got one right) we don't have any parts on hand, but here's someone that can help. I guess that doesn't apply at Orien.

Don't buy it
This unit was previously sold by FranklinChef #FSB360OD It is the exact same unit, just a different manufacturer's name. Even the user manual is EXACTLY the same. The failure rate on these units was so great, FranklinChef filed chapter 13 leaving many of us with a very attractive heap of stainless "steal". Don't buy it. It will fail.

Kalorik 3.5-Qt. Slow Cooker, Silver

Don't waste your money...buy another brand
Poor design. I've used this cooker several times and even though the liquid is barely half full, the condensation in the lid starts to spit out all over my countertop. This happens even on the low setting which means the cooker has to be monitored which means you can't turn it on before you leave for work. I contacted Kalorik and after multiple emails back and forth with them requesting additional information as well as sending pictures, the final response was "there is nothing wrong with the way the lid fits". This will be going in the trash.

Alright device!
I just got into slow-cooking and I have no complaints about this one. I ordered the red version and it works great! I've made soup, enchiladas, pulled pork, and chili. Fantastic and economical!

Nice!
This slow cooker is the perfect size for me, a first time user. I love the convenience of putting everything in one pot, leaving it for a few hours, and only having to remember to turn it off.

Paraflexx Premium Non-stick Dehydrator Sheets - 11 X 11

They're OK, but you should save your money.
Don't bother with the Paraflexx sheets for fruit leather - unbleached silicone parchment paper (NOT waxed paper) is faster and less expensive, and you can just cut and store the finished leather with the paper still on. We did a lot of trial and error, and now we just line the bottom of the dehydrator with the Paraflexx to catch drips.

Never received the item. Amazon told the Vendor NOT to ship the item to the correct address after I told Amazon what the correct address was. The Post Office DID receive the item as addressed according to Amazon's instructions, but returned it to the Vendor marked, "Undeliverable as addressed." I did review the USPS Tracking Data and I did tell the Post Office what happened. They said there was nothing that they could do. The vendor was in touch with me, but said they could not re-ship the item unless I sent additional Shipping Funds. It will be some time, if ever, before I order anything again through Amazon.

KitchenAid Pro Line Series Stand Mixer

Good for cookies, cakes, so-so for mixing dough
I've had this stand mixer for a few months now and I was very excited when it came in the mail. It looks great in my kitchen - very sleek and a nice size. The mixer is very easy to operate and very powerful, I never really mix above speed 5 or so. The whip, dough, and paddle attachments (included with the mixer) secure very easily and stay secured when in use. After everything is secured in place, the lever on the right side (as pictured) is turned to bring the mixing bowl up and in place. The mixer works very well in mixing all ingredients together even if there is very little inside - but sometimes takes a while. The attachments mix all the way to the bottom of the bowl. A cookbook is included with instructions and recipes. The Kitchenaid brand is reliable and it compliments other Kitchenaid items in my kitchen!

The reason for the 4 stars:
The mixing bowl can be a little tedious to put in place, however. There's a little ding in the back that has to fit into a hole...

At least it manages bread dough.
This mixer arrived today and I've just run a first batch of pizza dough through it.

The 5 qt professional model it replaced was fine at everything except dough, which it would just take for a spin while the dough climbed the hook and rarely touched the bowl. Of course a beater blade or sideswipe blade is a necessary extra for creaming and mixing. Otherwise it's pretty useless.

We got this model for two reasons. First it had a spiral dough hook, which has the promise of being able to actually mix dough in the way other consumer models don't. Secondly it supposedly has an all metal construction including the gear housing. This is the well hidden difference between the 6qt professional model and the 6qt proline model. In all visible and operational respects they appear identical, but the stiff doughs will destroy a mixer and the hope is that this one will last longer with a proper metal gear housing.

It was a 90% success. The dough which I normally have...

Great capacity
I upgraded to this model after discovering that two batches of cake was just barely too much for my 5 qt Artisan tilt-head Kitchenaid to handle. While I do miss the tilt-head model for a number of reasons (easier access to bowl, not having to take the beater/whip off when removing the bowl from the mixer), I have to say that my absolute favorite part of this mixer is the bowl itself. I love that there isn't a "stand" on the bottom of it like the 4.5 and 5 quart models--just the little dimple. So, the bowl will still sit level on your counter without falling over, but I can also use the bowl over a hot water bath as a double boiler before moving the bowl to the mixer (very useful for making swiss buttercream).

I love the 11-wire whip that comes with this mixer (though it can be hard to hold onto for washing, since the gaps between the wires are *just* small enough that I can't get my fingers in there). I do think that it whips much faster than the usual 6 wire whip...

Play & Freeze Ice Cream Makers - Orange

What a Mess!
Very disappointed with this product. I bought this for my son's birthday. He was so excited to try it. The first (and only) time we used it, the seals leaked profusely and they were very difficult to remove. I returned this product immediately. The only good thing was that the seller let me return the item with no hassle.

Ice cream fun
The ice cream maker was a wonderful activity for my nieces, nephew and my students. The directions were simple and the recipes were very good. It took about less than 20 minutes to make and the children enjoyed rolling the ball around. The ice cream was delicious. Just don't reseal it to keep small amounts of ice cream cold, it would be nearly impossible to take off.

Oster 6859 16-Speed Blender, Brushed Nickel

Exactly what I wanted.
I bought this mainly for making smoothies. It works great! I'm happy with the features, and have no complaints about it. Its easy to use & clean, and does a great job grinding up the ice I add to my smoothies and protein shakes. My boyfriend used it sometimes as a substitute for a food processor (which we now have) and he was very happy with the performance too. Got it for a steal of a price too! Would definitely recommend.

Oster 6859 16-Speed Blender
I have owned and used this daily for six months. This is a good blender in its price range. I have tried others and they don't compare to this one in their ability to use frozen fruit. It makes awesome light and creamy smoothies. On the down-side: it is very loud though and sometimes difficult to seat onto motor spindle properly. However, I wouldn't go with any other at this price.

This its a great product
After using a Hamilton Beach, and one of the worst blenders i have seen and used in my life a Durabrad, this is a very good one, this one its a joy, i made smoothies for all the family within seconds, frozen fruits are not a problem, also the glass its very solid. I am not reviewing the seller, i am reviewing the product.

And for me this its one keeper.

Melitta MEK17W 1.7-Liter Express Kettle

Potential hazard confirmed
Some reviews here say that the auto-shutoff may be unreliable. I boiled a liter of water to test this. It shut off after 10 seconds of vigorous boiling. I repeated the experiment with the spout filter removed. It failed to shut down automatically - I switched it off after 30 seconds of rolling boil. Same with the lid open.

The spout filter is easily dislodged. This happened to me the very first time I filled the kettle. I have not observed that the lid closure is unreliable.

I like this kettle and will continue to use it with caution.

Good Kettle, Not really express
I hesitated to buy this kettle when my hot pot broke after years of college use because of some of the negative reviews, but I was desparate. It was the weekend when my hot pot broke, and I cannot make it through 8:30 Anatomy class without my cup of coffee. It was also the only one at Target that wasn't the $10 kind that I broke from daily use.

So far I've had it for a couple of months and have encountered no problems. I fill it up in the morning. Boil some water and make my morning cup of Joe. The automatic stop always works, and I don't have a problem with it at all. I use it on average 2 times a day. Once in the morning for coffee and then once in the evening for tea. Doesn't show any sign of giving out any time soon.

The only complaint I have about this kettle is that it is not really express. I try not to boil more water than I need to cut down on the time it takes to boil my water. It does take a bit of time to boil the water, but I am always...

Excellent kettle, especially for the price!
A friend has been using this kettle for close to 5 years, and I bought this on his recommendation. I've had it for 6 months now, and it works flawlessly. The kettle is very safe to use, especially when you pour out the hot water. A couple of times, though, the auto shut-off feature did not work properly. The second time this happened I figured out that each of those times the lid had not been pressed shut. Since then, I make sure the lid is pressed down when I turn the kettle on and it has been working flawlessly. Plus, its relatively easy to clean.

As far as aesthetics and build quality are concerned, I am very picky and this kettle has been more than satisfactory on both counts.
